It\u2019s hard to believe there was once a world with eMail. Working from Home meant we couldn\u2019t talk to colleagues as easily as we used to. Some messaging moved to tools like Teams, and that cut email traffic, but others stayed in eMail and inboxes were flooded.<\/p>\n

Do you ever look at your Inbox and wish you could squeeze it down?<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s not all in your hands? Yes, there are somethings you can do \u2013 and we have some training options on the \u20184D\u2019s to overcoming eMail. (Do, Delegate, Defer, Delete) \u2013 and don\u2019t treat your inbox as a filing cabinet!<\/p>\n

But you can also work with colleagues to make sure the emails you send are clear.\u00a0 Here\u2019s some suggestions:<\/p>\n

  1. Do not put an email recipient\u2019s name into the \u201cto\u201d field, if the message doesn\u2019t explicitly task that person with providing a response or taking action.\u00a0 If you are asking someone to do something then \u201c@mention\u201d them and this will make it stand out in their inbox<\/li>\n
  2. Use the cc field instead to include people who are not required to take action but will be interested parties.<\/li>\n
  3. Only send email when necessary\u2026\u2026I receive a fair few that leave me scratching my head and wondering what was that about? And no action was required.<\/li>\n
  4. Keep emails brief \u2013 state your purpose and expected outcome up front so that the \u201cwheat can easily be sorted from the chaff\u201d by the reader.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
