It\u2019s Excel\u2019s attempt to make you look smarter and more thoughtful.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3897\" src=\"http:\/\/kinetics.co.nz\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/Ideas2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"338\" height=\"972\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Simply start with a table (not a pivot table) of data, and hit the idea\u2019s button and see what comes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Based on my experimentation, it gets a little confused with formatting and \u2018total\u2019 lines in data, so you may need to cut-and-paste your data to a sheet, or just highlight the data you want to analyse without the total lines or blank formatting lines.<\/p>\n<p>The function will then<strong> suggest charts and identify trends<\/strong> or stand-out numbers for you.<\/p>\n<p>Nothing beats a human assessment of data, but this is a useful additional tool to help you make sure you didn\u2019t miss anything obvious!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you hit the \u2018Which fields interest you the most\u2019,<strong> you can instruct Excel to focus down just on that data<\/strong> and it will present some graphs and pivot options that help get you straight to the data you are interested in.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you noticed the \u2018IDEAS\u2019 icon in Excel?
