Some emails are more than just bad news<\/h2>\nNo one likes bad news! But sometimes it can\u2019t be helped. Sometimes it sneaks up on you. One of the most common ransomware attacks is through a compromised attachment in an email.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s easy to say \u201conly open stuff you expect\u201d but that\u2019s a bit na\u00efve. Many of us get emails with attachments that we didn\u2019t expect but can\u2019t afford to ignore. The most common example I can think of is CVs. So to say \u201cdon\u2019t open an unexpected attachment\u201d is really unhelpful. In many cases, you can\u2019t call the sender and check it either.<\/p>\n

If anything weird happens, then the email attachment is blocked, otherwise it comes through.<\/p>\n
If it’s unsafe, you can see it’s blocked – and breathe a sigh of relief that your software has saved you!<\/p>\n
But, there is a downside- it takes a minute or two. During that time, you can see you have an attachment, but it\u2019s not accessible until it\u2019s tested.
