We are going to face a big change coming in September 2025, Microsoft is going to be disabling SMTP Basic Authentication. This continues work they commenced a couple years ago to disable other protocols such as POP and IMAP.<\/p>\n
It will be the tools and non-Outlook \u2018things\u2019 that send email. For example, some document scanners, and some of the software that is configured to automatically send emails including payroll systems such as IMS Payroll or 3rd Party Email vendors such as legacy CMS.<\/p>\n
We\u2019ve got a bit of time so we\u2019re looking for those services now and getting ready to change them over to supported protocols (where we can). This might include reconfiguring the software or using supported third party mail services such as \u201csendgrid\u201d, Azure Communication Services for Email or to set up a new Microsoft service, that is currently in \u2018preview\u2019, called \u201cHigh Volume Email\u201d)
For our KARE clients, we are reviewing all configurations and logs looking for examples where you are using these protocols so we can find the best way to overcome the restrictions.<\/p>\n
