We know that home networks can range from simple to complex. You might have smart TVs, smart home lighting, Google Home, Alexa, alarms, cameras \u2013 the list goes on. These devices can be less secure, with default factory passwords, and they are rarely kept up to date.\u00a0 That sounds like an invitation to a hacker!<\/p>\n
The attached NSA guide is a timely warning about how to secure your home.\u00a0 I was struck by the need to be thoughtful about microphones \u2013 they seem to be embedded, along with Google Home or Amazon Alexa, into almost every device these days, from TVs to sound bars.\u00a0 They are listening in!\u00a0 Heaven knows how dull that must be, but in this world of speech recognition and AI, I can imagine how a compromised device could give a criminal enough information to trigger a social engineering hack.<\/p>\n
